Aux Heater

It was cold this morning so I thought I'd try out the auxiliary heater for the first time. I switched it on manually and it made healthy sounding noises like it was revving up ..... air was pumping through the vents etc. I checked up on it a few times, listening outside the car and could clearly hear the fan running away. It ran for 30 minutes or so.

I was rubbing my hands together as I left the house at the thought of getting into a nicely warmed up car. But it was cold. The temperature felt just like nothing had happened.

Any ideas ? Have I done something wrong or missed something ?

Been done to death this one but Have you got Aux heating or Aux vent? What does it say on your screen? I did the same as you last year only to find a cold car

If it says Aux vent then its just cool ventilation. If it states Aux heating then its remote heating. You can buy a £35 maplin relay and remote that will enable yo to switch the heater on from say the house on those cold mornings.
hope this helps

If my OBC screen reads Aux Ventilition and I am able to set the time at which it comes on and I have the unit under the bonnet and also the exhaust under the car (quite cute I may add) does that mean that I can wire up the remote kit available from Maplins or do I need the unit recoded at a dealers first. In other words does the OBC screen read 'Aux Heating' rather than 'Aux Ventilation' when recodoed.
I have read sooo many posts everywhere about this but I am still unsure whether having the unit means that the vehicle has the heating facility or not.

Isambard is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't know what you mean by an 'aux heater'. Is this different/separate to the climate control?

Was just wondering if you had the vent wheel in the centre of the dash in the right place, ie in the hot position? I forgot I had them in the cold position one year, then the cold snap came, thought my heater matrix (or something) was buggered then realised I had to turn the wheel to the three red dots instead of the blue!

My OBC (16:9 Nav that is) has both Heating and Ventilation options. They are separate features that can co-exists.

No, couldn't feel or smell anything.

Looks like it's a cooler I've got as opposed to a heater, based on thedweeb's post. Fat lot of good that is in the winter then ey ??!

When does it switch from Vent to Heat? Is that depending on the outside temp or do I miss something here?

Regards, H
