Let me try to clear up what I said. Imo, many people who get on these boards bashing BMW, calling them pieces of crap, saying this will be my last BMW are typically people who have either a) never owned a BMW before, b) owned it for a very short period of time, c) did not do their due diligence before purchasing, or d) all of the above. Seems to me like these people are typically new to the forum with very few posts. Not always, but most of the time. These are probably the people who do no research, buy for the badge, then complain the first time something goes wrong. How dare they need to maintain their used vehicle? I have no patience for these people. However, people who just recently joined or have very few posts that are here to try to figure out what is wrong with their cars or just talk about them are completely different, imo, and I never meant to lump those groups together. No offense intended.

i have a low post count and heaps of questions, and have found plenty of help here.

i found, i have had to readjust my thinking as to what it means to own a BMW and specifically and X5,

i have, in my few months of ownership realised its not quite the high quality car i first imagined, that said and as others have said the sheer driving pleasure for me out ways the need for additional service.

and having said that, i have done 25000 km in 7 months and simply had the log book services done.

on the last service it was noted that the steering rack had some play and would be replaced under the extended warranty, and that there was a very slight amount of play in the rear suspension upper arm ball joint

so all things said i,m real happy with my purchase, and am starting to resent the bleeding hearts whining about there cars, dont like em then buy something else, worlds full of choices

( i suspect the underling problem really though is a lack of money to properly maintain a true thorough bread hehe )
