Threada resurrected! Having getting used to driving with these, i quickly realized how big a blindspot the X has so i had to quickly get a pair.

My question is how do i pop off the mirrors? Do they just pop off or do i need to disassemble the mirror assy?

Yes, pics from the OP showing the e53 aspheric side view mirrors installed would have been nice. It's never too late...perhaps someone will dig this post up in the future to add pics from an e53...until then I guess the pics posted of the e39 M5 will have to make due...

Just an FYI for those searching for this info that may come across this thread in the future.

Thank you Qsilver7. I got a pair of replacement mirrors too (non dip but blue tinted) but had a problem installing. Pictured below is new mirror on top, stock on bottom. I'm thinking the stock mirror is still connected to the mount plate and that needs to be pried off and put on the new one to then just snap it in? Can clearly see the "cup" on the stock and where it plugs in on the housing. Thought I'd ask before breaking it I mean, trying to swap over.

I loved these mirrors - I had them on my E34 and on the E39 - they both were heated.. Used it only on the driver's side, as the passenger side was already convex and I did not need more "convexing"... Sure beats the ugliness of the round stick-ons - I had them for years on my other rides... I looked like my grandma, driving with those stick -ons... lol...

I tried to find something for the X, but since mine has the auto dim feature, the OEM glass goes for over $300 (about $350) and there is nothing from Latvia to snatch...

Hmmmm. The glass looks yellow. Is there an OE mirror for the drivers side, heated and dimmable?

if the glass is OEM and not auto dimming, than it will be blue coated, heated or not... If the glass is auto dimming, than it will look plain, like regular vanilla mirror, as it turns blue when electric is applied...

That is what I was told a while back...
