X Wife is on a distinguished road
An intro, and some crash pics

Hi folks, I have been lurking for a few months and thought I would de-lurk finally I bought a 2001 X5 back in July and had finally figured out our car seat situation (I have 3 kids under 5, all in seats) and then was hit by a drunk 19 year old girl coming home from the club at 8 in the morning. The X was totaled...
Here she was before...

and after...

Luckily the insurance came through pretty quickly and there just so happened to be another '01 X5 with 64k miles so we jumped on it...and it's prettier

I'm glad your family was unhurt in what could have been very bad. The old E53 is one of the safest vehicles around and we have seen several pretty terrible crash photos posted here where the X saved some lives.

Stay safe!

Thanks. Yes it could have been very bad. The girl who hit me was going about 75 mph and the cops as well as Fire & Rescue all said they were amazed I didn't flip. I actually drove it to the side of the road, parked safely and then looked in my rear view and realized I was missing half my axle! I was very impressed with how it held up in the crash.

Yeah the X5 is built like a tank. Glad you are safe. Another testament to the safety of the X5.

That's crazy you were still able to drive it to the side of the road. Glad you're OK and welcome to the board.

Good to read you and your kids are ok...
as posted, the X is a remarkably safe car.

19 yr old coming home from "the club", at
8 AM...what a ridiculous and criminal act.
Hope she gets a few years and is forced to
listen to Palin's words of wisdom, 24-7.
Welcome to The Board...
