2001 4.6is Tyre Pressure....
I have a problem with the dreaded 'tyrepressureinactive' fault. I have checked the sensors in the actual wheel (yes, mine does have them!) but have been told to check the 4 antenna pieces. I presume they are umber 2 on here: RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Tire pressure control (RDC) - ctrl unit Can you tell me where these are found in the vehicle? The pressures are correct, the valves and sensors look fine and I and my Indy are at a loss of what to check next.... Failing this, can the system be turned off all together? Thanks in advance for any advice |

What size wheels do you have?
There's no such car as a 2001 4.6is, that model wasn't made until 2002 model year.

thanks - my logbook says it was registered in Sept 2001.
Just wondering where these receiver things are, presume there is one per wheel? |

Have you tried to reset the system by pressing the RCD button with the ignition key in position 2. Mine had this problem about a week ago reset the system and it has been ok since. I was told that if the warning came back on almost straight away it would probably be one of the sensors in one of the wheels as they are battery operated and need replacement about every 6 to 7 years

thanks, yep i've reset the system numerous times. It's fine for ten miles or so, then comes back on.
My indy says the sensors are fine (they were replaced with the tyres about 4 years ago) so we are still at a loss! |

your indy should be able to connect to a computer and read which sensor or receiver is causing the problem. Unsure if this is true but I believe that there is also one in the spare wheel
