Dealership warranty on work performed?

Is there a warranty for work performed at the dealer? For example if I had CPO work done in March how long would that work have a "warranty"? Has anyone had previous work re-done months later for no charge?

Most dealerships warranty work you that you paid for, for a set period of time/mileage 12months/12,000 miles, or 24 months/24k whichever comes first.

But most of the time if you didn't pay for it (went though a warranty) they will only warranty it though the end of the warranty period. For example, if you had work done 1 month before the end pf you warranty, only warrantied for 1 month.

If you are still with in the terms of you extended warranty, you should be good.
No idea how the deductible will work out if your extended warranty has one.

Be advised, just because your check engine light is on or oil is leaking doesn't mean is the same failure or the same problem and will be covered under warranty. There are hundreds of codes and multiple places for oil to leak from.

I am 100% it is the same issue. It is the intermediate levers. Had the issue addressed last winter (under CPO) and it seemed to be corrected. This winter, first cold morning bam, car shaking service engine soon light flashes stays on. Unreal, i'm just over 12,400 miles too since original service! I guess I will call the dealership, but not expecting much..

Update: Called the dealership and the parts come with a 2 year warranty and I wouldnt be on the hook for labor either. The tech said he hasnt had a truck come back with bad levers again, but he agreed the symptoms fit so I have an appointment in 2 weeks.

All parts bought through the dealer are covered by BMW's 2 year/unlimited mile warranty on the part and the labor (at any dealership in the US). Doesn't matter who installed it. One very good reason to get stuff from the dealer About 5 years ago I bought a remanufactured trans from the dealer, had it put in, a month later it died on the highway. Towed the car to the nearest dealer and warranty covered the entire thing.

While all parts bought through the dealer are covered by a warranty, parts supplied without charge for a warranty repair are not covered by the same sort of warranty. You don't get warranty on warranty; you have an original warranty term and parts replaced during that term on warranty are usually warranted until the end of the original warranty. If you don't pay for a part then you can't expect a new warranty on it.

^Logically that makes zero sense. The way I see it BMW performed a repair while my car was under CPO. Those parts come with a 2 year warranty regardless if I paid or not. This was told to me very clearly when I called. I asked what about labor and that would be covered as well. Think about it they were supposed to fix my car. If the levers are proven to be bad again, why should I be on the hook if there is a 2 year parts warranty?

Too bad? But at least they said its covered.
Make sure you get with the same service advisor when you show up for your appointment.

Work done under warranty does not extend the warranty.
All the warranty company thinks the waranty is there for is to make sure you don't have to pay for covered repairs until the after the end of your warranty period.

But that said, I agree its not logical. Just the way its been at the 3 different, non bwm dealers where I have worked.

The levers would have to be proven to be bad again, which the SA did admit happens RARELY. So who knows what they will find, especially since diagnosing this at the dealer the first time around was a hassle.
