Hi,

open the mirror: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...all-video.html

shift the glass upwards, unplug cables - maybe before shifting, I do not remember that detail. Put new glass in place - shift down to lock -don't forget cabling.

Opening the mirror seems to be the hardest part - rest is easy.

Good luck, H

The mirror is held in place by a plastic attachment backing for adjustments, and a cable connector for the auto-dimming plus heated functions.

Tilt the mirror fully down, then use your hand if you can to pop it out from the plastic backing BUT do not pull outwards too forcefully at once (don't just yank it out with brute force). If you break the wire connections, it's going to cost a lot to replace the whole assembly! Detach the wire connection, then replace the glass.

Search for the thread that has the actual PDF instructions. The mirror itself will slide up to unlatch NOT out towards you. I recommend using a large wedge shaped instrument - for example, the end of a crowbar (what I used).

Wrap it in a towel/cloth to protect the mirror and plastic trim. Put it between the bottom of the mirror and the mirror assembly. Lever the crowbar up to push the mirror up - it will take some force. Just go slow and it'll eventually pop up. Like someone else said, move the mirror so that its facing down towards the gorund to get better leverage.

You want a WIDE instrument so you can distribute the pressure on the bottom edge of the mirror. A Wide chisel would probably work too.

Good luck!
