Has anyone tried this royal purple yet in their x5s transmission? im curious to try it since it does state that it meets the lt71141 specs...

That site doesn't say that it meets the ZF LT spec. It says that Royal Purple recommend you buy their oil and use it for applications where that spec is required. The spec is an Esso/Exxon spec. ZF say you have to use that oil. That is the only oil that meets it. I am not saying that other oils won't work, but the fundamental nature of a proprietary spec is that it is proprietary.

You have to read manufacturer's claims closely. Not only do Royal Purple not say that it meets that spec, but they say it is good for transmissions that require the LT spec, and also for transmissions that require Dexron. We know from experience with BMW transmissions made by GM and by ZF that they need different fluids. Royal Purple is selling a 'univeral' fluid that they say works for everything. So, it is a miracle fluid that covers all specs, or a utility fluid that doesn't actually meet any of them?
