Agreed. I'm in the same boat. I only have the need for winter (M&S) tires maybe 2-3 times a year. I don't need an dedicated performance tire either so the choices are limited. I'm waiting till next fall to make a decision. Maybe there will be one or two more choices but I'm not holding my breath.....

I've had great experience with Bridgestone tires on both of my X's and also on the 3 series.

Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport is on Tirerack.com however, they are Street/Sport Truck Summer tires.

255/50R19 - $243 each - front tires
285/45/R19 - $227 each - rear tires

There is the Micheline Latitude Tour HP - all seasons - but $1,200 for a set!

I've used my Bridgestone's to go to the ski hill here twice and while the X didn't handle as great as the Blizzak snows I have I was still able to get up a snow covered hill with it. The snow tires are awesome in the ice and snow but a bit more noisy. I'll be glad to take them off in the spring!

I am in the same boat! I have the staggered 19's on the 4.4 and want to replace the Diamaris with all seasons. it seems like the Michelin latitudes are the best bet.

I've run Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetricos the last few years with great luck. They get me through the few measurable snows that hit the midwest each winter. Coming from Diamaris, the Pirellis don't give up any dry or wet weather performance and they definitely wear more evenly and last longer. If you want to run staggered 19's year-round, give them a look.

pretty badass tread design also. Power is Nothing Without Control
$888 for a set on TireRack

on a side note, has anyone here put Hankooks on their X? a Korean tire on a BMW just doesn't seem right...

So, out of all the ones you listed, which one do you guys recommend? It seems like the Michelins are WAY more expensive than the other choices. I've seen mixed opinions about the Kumhos and the pirellis. Anyone have any solid reviews about those listed?

Tirerack shows the Hankooks to be better than the other options

that's what i've been running since i took off original Diamaris
been getting about 30k out of each Pirelli set
dry and wet is excellent, handling like on rails.
they do get louder with more miles on them.
snow not for them lol
even if not looking at prices, they are one of the best tires available as an all arounder for our sizes.
then you look at the price and it's like a bonus

You say snow is not for them? Are they terrible in light snow conditions?

I've only tried the Pirelli Scorpion and Michelin Latitude. Can't comment their ability on snow/ice since the roads where mostly cleared everytime I went up the mountains (lucky me). The Pirelli do have better dry traction and wore better. The Michelin do ride better (smoother), but at 20K miles, the rear needs replacement. Wet traction between the two is a toss up. As a matter of fact, I will be going back to Pirelli to replace my current Michelin (having the Scorpion put on today). IMHO, the Michelin is over-rated...not worth the extra money. I don't really like the fact that the Michelin have a narrower contact patch either (even on the same size tire) - a whole inch narrower than the Pirelli! - which defeats the whole point of going staggered.

It is sounding like the Pirelli's are a good way to go! Does anyone have a little more experience with how these tires handle snow conditions? I have driven Michelin MXV4's in snow and they do a good job.

I have the latitudes and have put over 30k on them and they look brand new. I do not see any abnormal wear or any real wear at all. I don't see why 40-50k on a set isn't common place. The latitudes have been great in the snow as well.
