I saw that graphic when I was noodling UK fuel costs, Zulu...amazing.
The Brit/Euro governments must subscribe to the econ misnomer of
"let's tax the hell out of everything people really need, so they will change their ways" mentality.
Which is in many ways, has already crested the hill here in the States.

My favorite bitter is Bombardier by far. We can get it in the states but a 12 pack is about $70.

MD,
The Brits have always operated on the premise that no matter what one does in life, be it for necessity or leisure, the crown MUST get paid. Even before the dopey greens had any say the Brits paid through the nose for fuel. (Including heating fuel I might add.) It is an easy target and all sides use it to help pay for their socialist programs because some form of personal transport is always needed.
While the idiots keep voting these rip-off artists into power they'll keep doing what they are doing.
Now the idiots on this side are following along like good little sheeple and risking the same sort of prices here.

The problem is by increasing the fuel costs ensures we pay through the ass for everything IT REALLY IS RIP OFF ENGLAND, they take 40% of our income to start with and then tax you on everything else. Anyone want a lodger? ....I can cook and clean.....open to sensible offers

40% tax! Youre obviously earning too much mister "I'm in the 40% tax band". With my shite wages I thought 20% was too much and don't forget the bloody "national insurance" which i have just been told I wont get a state pension in 30 years time as my employers didnt take enough and i've got a shortfall. And Nhs is shite which is why I pay for private medical, even though I thought thats what I was paying towards with NI.
Other than that I bloody love it here. Warm beer, Cold weather and fat lasses.

When I was knocking down beer by the barrel, I actually preferred hand pulled bitter, when I was in England.
I drink about the same number. We have Guinness here as well, but it has a different alcohol content (more than the UK) and it tastes different. I think it is brewed locally under license. Just doesn't seem the same to me, maybe because I am not in a pub on the Chester road, ducking due to the 5'6" headroom.

Guinness may be Irish, but I was in the UK back when I got real Guinness, so I guess I just associate it with the UK.

I lived in Wales back in 2007 for about 3 months. Cardiff specifically but I tried to get out to see everything. Loved it there, moreso than London. Wife is from London and we're always there every year.
