Exclamation real challenge fail safe desperate !!

Hello guys, I apologize if my constant thread starting is flooding the xoutpost, but I am getting nowhere, below you will see the codes I get with the GT1, you would think that with that tool, I would be able to diagnose properly, but it's not, I've spent endless hours on the net looking for clues to no avail. so here's my cry for help:

1.- as soon as I star the x, the transmission failsafe program pops up.
2.- I have reverse, and then stuck in 4th gear.
3.- on the instrument cluster, I am not able to see the recorded distance, trip distance, and outside temp. (don't know if its related)

a couple of months back, I rebuilt, the tranny, and valve body, and before going into failsafe, it was going through gears smoothly. I am in Honduras, Central America, so going to the dealer is not an option, they may not even have a gt1. so I MUST fix this problem myself.

thanks in advance,
Mario.

Do you have SSS? If yes, have you checked to see if there are any EGS updates for your transmission? I'm having the Electronic braking force distribution error as well. I have a DME, EGS, DSC, and VTG update to perform, but am waiting for my power supply maintainer to arrive to see if that resolves the issue.

thanks!

A power supply maintainer is a battery charger, but more. It holds steady the voltage at 13.8 which is needed for programming later vehicles. A drop in voltage can either cause the programming to fail and potentially brick your module. The current BMW recommended unit is the Deutronic DBL-800; it's in the $1200 price range (available via API-NET or Baumtools in the US). There are other options, but I decided upon a Midtronics PSC-550 (readily available, cheaper, and has similar specifications), and am waiting for it to arrive.

Forgive me, but I'm going through this out of memory, so I apologize if am not recalling screen for screen.

In SSS you go choose new session, choose the appropriate series. After the ZCS (in your case) is read, choose Load SW. SSS will ask if any modules have been replaced. Choose no, then you will have a list of modules. Select EGS, then choose Programming. SSS will query your EGS, then come up with a measures plan. There will be an old software version and a new software version to be installed. In my case the old is 7549958 and the new is 7564921.

The length of the measures plan will be displayed and then you can start on programming.

For an example, here's the list of times that SSS displayed for my updates:

DME - 60 minutes
DSC - 20 minutes
EGS - 20 minutes
VTG - 4 minutes

Got it, I thought you were talking about a different part of the car, in my case, I have a diesel truck, I hook it up to the x, and that way I get a constant 13.8, even if I go for an hour, beats the expensive charger. the question is, what if the dis/sss version I have is older, and I don't have the latest upgrades???
thanks again!

I am wondering, if a full vehicle reset, with the SSS, will do any good.....

If you do a complete vehicle encoding that will take a very long time. The last versions of the 2G diagnostics suite was DIS v57 and SSS v32. After that BMW moved to the 3G ISIS system with ISTA-P used for programming.

certainly! Keep us updated on the resolution of your errors. I need to dive into the braking force error myself.
