Too rich for me. If this Febi doesn't work again, I'll probably go to the genuine BMW. A lot more than the Febi, but cheaper than the JXB.

In my case, the rubber support on the CSB is fine but the bearing is worn and noisy, so while the JXB solution looks great, I still need to drop the shaft and split it to change the bearing...

It might not be the CSB that’s the issue. My original bearing went out, the metal surrounding the rubber cracked. I replaced it with a Febi unit from FCP Euro… it was fine for some time and the metal bracket cracked again. Replaced it again, was fine for sometime and yep… cracked again. I thought it may have been that Febi wasn’t that good and was gonna order genuine BMW but I did some more digging on the internet and found that if the universal joint on the driveshaft is stiff or notchy, it’ll cause the CSB to fail. I never paid much attention to the condition of the universal joint when I had the driveshaft out but on the final time I found that it was indeed very stiff. So I ordered a driveshaft from Import master replacement driveshaft listing for BMW driveshaft, Mercedes Driveshaft, Volvo Driveshaft and all is good now. A much beefier and serviceable universal joint vs the oem shaft. It comes with everything except the guibo and cover for the cv joint. I highly recommend anyone in need of a driveshaft to order from them. From phone call to receiving the shaft, it took 4 days for them to build, balance and ship it.

That's good info. Thanks. I did pay attention to the U joint when I pulled things apart and it seemed to be moving normally and not stiff. If that CSB fails again I'll definitely look into a new shaft.

No problem, I was baffled as to why the CSB kept failing. In one axis the joint moved freely but the other axis was stiff and binding. So glad it’s resolved now. I don’t mind doing the work, just don’t like doing the same job multiple times lol.

That shop is down the highway from me. I can eat at Pappadeaux while they fix the OEM shaft.

I believe they made the DS for a buddies LSx swap into his E30. I might need to go there for a DS for my M52 swapped E30. Good to hear they positive experiences.

Bled the brakes, buttoned up a few suspension bits, and lowered it down to the ground for the first time in several months. I also finished 2 cylinders worth of valve stem seals today, so bank 1 is finished. The rear cylinder wasn’t too difficult. Just gotta make sure you get a good viewing angle on it. Took some acrobatics for that rear intake valve. I think I’m going to wait until bank 2 is complete before I install the bank 1 valve cover. For now I have it covered with some clean microfiber towels.
