Those Subarus have non-inteference engine. They have quite a group of followers. Most of those SVXs have trouble with the original transmission due to heat. That can be fixed by swapping a 4.44 tranny and VLSD from a 96-98 Subaru Outback. I'm in the process of doing that to the 1st SVX I got, with only 97k miles and in great shape.
The 2nd one has 107k miles with no problem at all. KBB prices it at ~$3600. My total in that one at the moment is the $600.

I loved those "split window" Subarus when they came out, clean design.
