Worked on my battery drain issues today.

I just removed the tcu Bluetooth module from mine. Charging the battery up now for testing.

If it isn't down any tomorrow problem solved hopefully.

If I wasn't going to switch to an aftermarket radio anyway I would permanently fix the tcu issue by rewiring its power feed to an ignition wire in place of live all the time.

Come to think of it I may do that anyway. Kind of sounds like fun and it will be a bit before the new radio gets here anyways.

Well lets see how this test goes first.

Got out and checked my x5 today after 24 hours sitting and it had made it down to 12.67 volts sitting that long so at least I know my tcu was the battery killing problem.

Finally finished the right rear lower control arm bushing install and did the ball joint as well. Subframe bushings are next, and I can finally say I'm done overhauling it (every arm/bushing has been replaced)

I searched on Cragislist and Ebay for any sets of original Headlights coming off a 2000 to 2003 E53s with Xenons. You'll have luck with any 8cyl model from that time frame. The ones I found had bulbs and ballasts, however I did order new bulbs just so they wear out evenly.

The set up for the install is slightly different than just plug and play being the halogens don't have a bottom plastic bracket on the housings to hold the ballasts.

I had to zip tie the ballasts because again the brackets from the xenon headlights don't fit into the halogen set up.

If you want to be 100% sure about part numbers, I use this website as reference all the time: BMW Parts Catalog
