Shade is only available late afternoons. I'll use a canopy and a small swamp cooler. 90F here stinks with high humidity. If the hubs come off easily, maybe I can replace both rear wheel bearins in one day.

Slide hammer for hub: pull abs sensor don't asks me how i know. Cheap Amazon model if you forget don't ask me how i know.

Do you even need to remove the hubs from the bearings, if you are replacing both the hub and the bearings...? Why bother...?

This should be a quick job - easily done in a day, with mostly standard tools.

Unless an axle gets stuck in a hub...

The hub is one with the bearing. It's easier to yank apart when you have the mass of the car to hold the outer bearing and yank the inner bearing race out with the hub.

Then you have the joy of getting that race off. I've seen video just heat it red hot and it falls off. I'll definitely be trying that next time

Understand that - BTDT - but that's why I commented as I did. If you don't need the old hubs and are using new hubs, already pressed into the new bearings (see X5chemist's other thread ) then there's no point....

I've never even seen a combined unit so i missed that at first.

Yep, if you have combined unit it should come out as one piece.

The "should" involves spline rust.

I guess $20 per bearing/hub is not a bad price but I seem to love collecting tools I'll only ever use one or twice, so I got the slider hammer and the bearing tools and did it all myself.

And I write this, I'm now questioning that decision!

Yeah, that. (Although I had no such trouble myself - I only had issues get one axle back in - and Andrew's note on getting the suspension in the right position would have sorted that)
