Thumbs up Hi Gents. New X5 owner here

Just bought it last weekend and drove it down from right outside of Chicago to Atlanta.

This thing is a BEAST! Looking forward to continued education from this board.

The 2 main reasons I bought it were it was time for a "new" company car and section 179 Tax deduction for my company and I needed something to haul my E36M3 race car around the east coast to various race tracks. So I found a 4.8is with a factory hitch and a 900 lb. extruded aluminum Trailex 18 footer to drag behind me with track tires/fuel jugs, etc.

Next week it goes in for new thrust arm bushings, a "slight" brake adjustment and BSW Media Bridge for ipod/BT/Sirius.

Anybody know the BMW part # for the OEM Steering wheel "insert"? Mine is delaminating and needs replacing.

Obligatory TTIWWOP pics attached.

Jonathan

Beautiful truck! Love the color. It sounds like you race with my buddies Dave and Krista from NC. She races a silver M3 in the east coast events.

Thumbs up I probably know them by their car...

Unless they are fellow instructors, the sea of students gets overwhelming. I had to start writing them down.

East coast tracks are fun here in the south, with Road Atlanta being my home track, but it's time to come up north to Watkins, Road America and VIR.

Nice truck. Steering wheel part #32306778412. They all delaminate like that. Mine's going to be replaced this summer. What are you planning on doing with your old stock brakes? Interested in selling them?

My 2004 X5 3.0 didn't after 100K miles and 7 years and neither has my mother in laws' 2001 with 77K miles. I would say the '04 4.8 hasn't either, but it only has 14K miles.

Thumbs up Thanks fellas!

You guys are ON IT with the part numbers. Already sent an email to my BMW parts guy and have it on order. What a time saver.

I'll get new photos as soon as brakes go on and Sirius is installed.

The king of the E53...under-ride guard's a nice touch. Should be loads of fun on the ATL/Southern tarmac.

I thought that under ride guard wouldn't work on the 4.8. Or is that just the 'aero' package it doesn't work with? Are there instructions specific to the 4.8 or does it just bolt right on? That might go on the list of mods. Looks great!
