Thanks for making this thread, Meister. It will come in useful when my 7.5 year old battery finally decides to give up the ghost

Here is a great source for the Exide battery:

ProStock Auto Parts
201-796-7000
Saddlebrook, NJ
Ask for Michael Paulson

They also have a pick up location in the Bronx, NY

Exide Global Extreme L5/49-E108 $149.99 + $10.00 core = $159.99 + tax = $171.19.
Battery lists for $214.65 + tax.

Good info on the Braille Battery, thanks. I never heard of it, but it looks like it will fit and should work great. It's an AGM battery so it's obviously more expensive (double the price basically of a wet battery).

Cheaper than the OEM battery, and about $150 more than a high quality johnson controls battery of the same size. Exide/Die Hard are a bout 160 cheaper. It's got like 15-20% more output and reserve to boot. I'd say its well worth the extra $$ if you use the X's electronics when the engine isnt running.

So far, Jegs had it the cheapest at $285 (when I bought mine a couple months back).

I didn't check the warranty information. That was a big decision in getting the Exide Global Extreme.

i was being exceptionally lazy when i posted that so I did some looking and the battery I purchased 3 yrs ago is no longer available. Its now the

Everstart MAXX-H8
CCA 760
$95 cost
$10 core
3 yr free replacement
has a vent tube

supposedly its the exact same dimensions as its predecessor (the one i own) so i measured mine.

13 7/8" long
7" wide
? height (its flush with the battery compartment.. sorry, didn't feel like pulling the battery all the way out)

like i said before.. cheap battery walmart sells.. fits perfect. No complaints here. /shrug
