New E53 Owner

I always liked the X5 but did not want to get auto tranny, so it took a long time for me to find one that is in mint condition, manual black interio only and of course a good deal. So my mechanic calls me and tells me he has one in his shop from one of his customer who wants to sell it and its MANUAL. He did the PPI on it and said the car has no leaks anywhere, bushing and all mounts are good, cooling system still good but failed AC compressor. So i worked out a deal with this guy and bought it that day. Installed AC compressor did regular tune up and drove it home. I LOVE ITTTTT. I am planning to keep this one for a longgg time. 200k Miles here i come

Anyways i love the forum looks like a cool crowd and lots of good info.

2002 X5 with 99k on the clock. Silver with black interior.

Will upload pics today

Congrats on finding a manual, and welcome to the Board!
There are only a handful of us here with the 5 spd.

You will find the highway cruising rpms to be considerable,
but the trans is fun, imo.
GL, mD

PS: nice sled, too!

It wouldnt hurt the 3.0 to have 6 speed, but it would be much slower and crusing at 80mph i do about 21mpg and if i have to pass someone pulls hard enough.

I really like your set up, but then again thats big money i only paid 9k for mine. But down the road Ill upgrade to a newer one.

I owned e36 M3 and e46 m3 almost went back to it but then this x5 popped up i couldnt say no to manual and price.

Congratulation!

I was in the same boat as you last fall. I found an '03 Black on Tan 5 speed in very good condition for about the same money. I wound up putting a clutch in it, but I love the truck. Mine has the tow package and it really does pull a trailer very well. I was coming out of a '08 4 door wrangler, and this is a much nicer truck.

congrats.

Thanks for the welcome guys, Yeah the forum is great here. I am acutally looking into towing package now. Upgrade headlights and thats about it for now. I dont know why people complain about the OEM sound system but it sounds great to me. So i wont upgrade there

Down the road do need bigger wheels OEM though.

Yes I love the 5 Speed amazing

congrats and welcome to the titanium on black manual transmission club. Just a heads up, it may not be your experience but keep an eye on your oil level. I have never seen an oil light come on in 3 years of ownership but I've emptied at least two cases of oil because I've had to add oil in between oil change intervals (poss due to the high highway rpms)
