Any of you had experience using a BMW SCANNER PA Soft 1.3.6 1.36 BMW Diagnostic Tool?

Any of you had experience using a BMW SCANNER PA Soft 1.3.6 1.36 BMW Diagnostic Tool?

I just bought mine from ebay hoping that I would be able to change the German language my X5 operates on to English (it's expensive to learn German versus buying the PA Soft ).

I have NO IDEA how to use this. Maybe some of you can share your experience?

Many thanks in advance.

Just total speculation here...

There is a serial to iBus adapter, that is what the black box looks like. I see in the other picture what looks like a DB-9 serial to OBDII cable, and maybe a DB-9 serial to that wacky BMW connector under the hood of some X-5's.

So I'm guessing that you would need to hook this up to a laptop with an RS-232 port. There aren't many of those around anymore. You would more likely get a USB to RS-232 adapter.

I see a disk, so I'm guessing that you got software for this thing. Load it up and try it out.

Buzzcut is right, you will need a laptop (or a desktop with a long power lead !) with a serial port to use this. You can buy USB->Serial adaptors but from what I've read they can be a real pain to get working.

Hate to say it, but you probably should have bought the 1.4.0 version, it's USB based and would be easier to get running. I have 1.4.0 and it works well on my E53 and my wife's E46.

@Buzzcut - got the usb to rs232 adaptor, installed the drivers but never got the thing to work

@Sundayjumper - it's a pain to try and make this rs232 thing work. There is no 1.40 USB version on ebay. this is the only thing available. my only chance is to install the software to an old pc with a real rs232 port. maybe it will work. i'll try tomorrow and drag my old pc down to the garage!

Really ? Which ebay site do you access from the Phillipines ? There's normally loads, shipped direct from China most of the time. Mine came airmail from China to England in just a couple of days no problem at all.

USA ebay clicky

This one?

BMW IBUS I-BUS to USB Interface / Adapter Cable | eBay

Interface $30, shipping to USA $5, already USB.
I have it in front of me - but not tried right now. Software I plan to use is NavCoder.

Have fun

@Sundayjumper / Helmuth - thanks thanks I found it. I'd better just buy again. The 1.3.6 is a complete waste of money!!!! Don't buy guys UNLESS you have a jurassic notebook that has a serial port! Thanks guys!
