E53 Diesel rail pressure
Anyhow, I went with changing the glow plugs first. The message had disappeared by then, and never appeared for nearly a week of happy fast driving. Unfortunately it's on now and annoying me. NO hard start, no smoke, no noise, no loss of power. Any suggestions? What's a decent scan tool to use? I was looking at the Launch Tech USA creader vi or Equus Innova 3130. ....(something less than 250 USD that will read live data) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! A good Scantool for less than usd 100.00,is the autel MS509 ,which records and prints live data.I used it all the time and have also recommended it to some members here ,who have found it very useful in detecting some engine issues, like Rail pressure,Boost,MAF etc....
Your "fuel inj system " error message can be a number of things related to the fuel system,so it will be a process of elimination!A scantool or performing diagnostics ,will shorten the list ,and will make it easier to find the problem, which can be from the something simple, like your fuel pressure sensor(quite common),injectors, or at worst ,your fuel pumps. The fact that you say that the error comes up after you drive it hard, could be an computer error, such as too much fuel request at higher revs. This is also common on remapped cars that havent been done properly!Has yours been remapped? You say you changed the 6 glow plugs! This hasnt nothing to do with Fuel inject error message! Was your car difficult to start before they replaced these? No problem... My update so far....waiting on my scan tool to ship from the USA to Trinidad, West Indies (google it). Car is fine still, except for the message on the dash, and the annoying ding ding noises upon entry/exit.

Update, no scan tool, but I changed the diesel filter and the warning message came off 500 kilometers afterwards. The message was stubbornly on since the first post.

Weird! One explanation of being the fuel filter setting off the error light, would have been if the sensor plug on the filter wasnt properly "clicked in" before you changed the filter..
I hope the error light stays off..and thanks for the update |

Sorry to bring back an old thread. At 151,000 KMs the problem returned with the same codes except only cyl 1,2,3 plugs were bad.
I changed only the fuel filter this time and all is well. go figure, my car tells me when to change my fuel filter |
