Honestly, I think the rear end of all the E53's is what makes it look dated, regardless of lips, spoilers, and pipes.
The rest of the car is keeping up incredibly if not surpassing aesthetically many new model SUV's . But that backside just does not cut it anymore. I think it's the square taillights on the trunk lid. And the generally boxy bumper and upper hatch.
