nuts. My stepper motor in the TC went when I bought it in winter 2 years ago and I enjoyed the X for a few moments with RWD but since it was winter I NEEDED to get it fixed. BUT I would LOVE to get my X to be a rwd suv during summer months. So I'm tempted to pull fuse #46 for the summer but I don't wanna loose ABS (DSC I could handle loosing for summer).

Is it wrong to pull that fuse for a while? I mean will there be any negative effect on any systems? mechanically or electrically I wonder? If not I'd love to do this all summer (dry roads only)

@clockwork, i drove around for 3 days like that,

Popped it back in, started car and good to go.

What i was thinking was wire in a toggle switch to that fuse... Im not an electrician but is it bad to "disengage" and "rengage" a fuse like the switch would do with the car running? I really dont feel like trying and breaking shit..

My thought on that was, i definetly wouldnt engage it at speed, but lets say your done with rwd mode and your on a longer drive, pull on the shoulder quick and engage ot back with switch and go on your way.

The reason i say not at speed is i dont know if stuff would grind if awd suddenly came back on.

I understand making the X RWD if you are having big problems with the system, and it was a LOT less expensive than fixing it in places like South FL who needs AWD anyway....??
I'd LOVE my X just as much if it were only RWD

Correct me if i'm wrong but I thought if you disconnect the transfer case plug underneath the car you essentially disable the AWD all while keeping ABS.

Fuse method is quick and easy way if you want to roll for a bit in rwd mode. Abs and dsc are off.

Tcase plug method you do keep abs and no dsc.

With either method it does render your air ride switch inoperable meaning you cant go into offroad or access modes, however it will maintain the programmed ride height.

I definitely felt a "difference" if you will. I don't know for sure "better" but it definitely drove different and not worse. Super helpful I know

Yea it drives like a rwd SUV. A nice 5 series feeling SUV. And you can drift.
