I just purchased the AFE St II also, will install once I get back, I also got the the throttle body spacer, and the Sprint booster, I'm pretty sure it will be more responsive than stock with this minor set-up as I have the booster on my 04 500+WHP M3 and do feel the difference even if it has it's own sport button. NOT more power but better acceleration and response! Later will do a catch can so all that gunk won't enter the engine and get clean air.

Don't worry about the negativity, or un-motivational responses, It's your car, your money, so do what ever you want with it!!

By the way! Great work on your engine!!

I don't think anyone is being negative, you're taking it the wrong way. Do a search and you will find some pretty lengthy threads about this subject with links to other BMW sites as well. The consensus is that nothing beats the stock BMW air filter for air flow, look at it this way, at least they finally got something right on this damn truck....LOL!!!!!!

If you like the feel of the pedal with those mods, then that is great, and it could well be worth it for you.

Still wondering though how you get better acceleration with no additional power. Newton's Second Law of Motion wouldn't agree with you.....

It isn't negativity, it is logic.

Agree the stock filter flows more than the engine requires, and has the added advantages of not letting in additional dirt, and not letting in heated air from the engine compartment.

Advantages of the aftermarket air intake are underhood looks (for those that like it), increased intake noise (ditto), and in some cases washable filters (good for mudding with 4x4s, if you do that sort of thing in your X5)

All that said, people should do what they want with their own vehicles, they are personal statements.
