EDIT...just so I'm clear.

Lowering springs in the front, lowering links in the rear...things will be ok

Lowering springs in the front, lowering via my laptop in the rear...crappy ride due to lightly inflated air bags

Lowerings springs in the front, lowering springs in the rear...best ride all around

Am I getting it right then? If springs on all 4 corners is the best, then I need to find out how to do a 4 springs conversion...which I'm guessing will far exceed the price of doing a 2 spring/links lowering option.

lowering springs+lower rear link =ok,,but not too good.lower springs + lower the rear by via comp =crappy ride.lower springs all around=best but you will need special coding for that.

I've got a laptop, so I can do the coding...at this point I'm just wondering about hardware. After I remove the airbags, I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy more than just 4 springs to be able to install them in the rear.

With your laptop you still need the special code from BMW of NA to do this conversion.
As the hardware you will need the springs pads from the regular 3.0i

I have a 4.8is. I removed the entire air ride system and opted for Blisten HD shocks and Eibach pro-kit springs. I love the look and ride. I am wondering if rear lowering links would work as well? The front sits perfect but I would like the back to sit a little lower.

Thanks guys.

BTW, anyone looking for advice on the lowering of a fully air ride equipped truck let me know. I am beyond happy with the outcome. Plus, no more expensive air ride components going bad.

If you've removed the full air system then the lowering links will do nothing for you in the rear. They adjust the level sensors which controls the air ride.

Below is a photo of the lowering links from the H&R lowering kit (found HERE) for the E53 with rear air suspension.

They replace the stock "links" that are attached to the rear suspension and tell the car's computer where to set the right height for rear air suspension equipped vehicles.
