Do you like your lowered x? How did you do it?

I was thinking about getting a pro-kit for my X5. I was wondering what methods you guys have used to lower your e53's, if you like it, etc?

Any advice?

Thanks!
Ben

Mine is slightly lowered.not much of a difference at all.the result?my back tires now bend outwards.my front drive axels keep going to shyt.i didn't lower my car,the previous owner did.my suggestion is if ur gonna get it down make sure ts done by someone who knows what they're doing or they can really mess up your suspension

I'll probably just throw some 20s on it and keep it where it is.

If you were to lower I would only recommend KW suspension setup. Nice ride and best ride quality concerning rebound. If you want a 20" wheel then look no further then a set of genuine bmw 20's. great quality and they resist bending more so than aftermarket.

How low do you want to go ? I did lower mine with B&G S2 springs it gave me 2" all around ... I love it ... It costs me $250 for the springs...

I assume yours is the 4 spring kit since you don't have rear air. B&G sells a kit for the 4.4 but doesn't include lowering links for the rear, so how in the hell do I lower the rear if those arent included?

best way to lower is to go four corners with springs. throw the airbags out.
lowering the airbags anything more than 1" will give you a real shitty feel.
how do i know you ask. ive done that and right after i did i immediately changed over to springs and the ride became awesome.
those stock airbags are designed to be driven at that height with those rear shocks

What Justin said - go with lowering springs if you're going very low.

I lowered mine with the GT1 (stock air springs) to only about 1-1.5" clearance from the tire. Looks great but has consequences. I run 30mm spacers in the rear and none up front. I use 20" X6M reps.

Ride was more bouncy and had intermittent tire rub on larger dips (when I had passengers). The air springs lowered by the GT1 just means less pressure so that's why the ride suffers.

Eventually I raised it up back to maybe only 1" lower than stock. Seems like a good compromise as I don't throw my X around that often.

BTW.. if you lower your X you need to have it realigned. Lowering changes the geometry.

So what I'm finding online is either 2 spring & lowering link kits for the 4.4 w/ airbags, or 4 spring kits for the 3.0 w/o airbags. I'm only finding B&G kits on eBay (the guy is a dick, but the price is right) for around $200-$250...if I can avoid sub $400 range using H&R's, I'd prefer to do so.

Is removing the bags a simple hardware procedure...meaning the bags come out, then the springs just go in? Do I have to buy mounts to hold the springs, etc? I'm used to cars, so lowering the X is a whole new venture for me.
