No Air Coming out of Front Vents - anything besides Final Stage Resistor?

I have a 2001 X5 3.0i with the front vents not working - rear ones OK. I replaced the Final Stage Resistor back in 2007 once already, and when the same symptom happened again, I went ahead and got a replacement thinking it was the same problem.

However, the new FSR didn't solve the problem. Front vents still not working, rear ones blowing. The connector should be connected correctly- the unit gets extremely hot after I power on the car and attempt to turn on the fan system. Could it be a defective unit, or is there something else I need to look at?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could be the blower fan given the FSR gets hot but still no airflow. It could be the AC control unit but the hot FSR makes me suspect the fan. I seem to remember somebody posting a DIY or the like on the blower motor.
Did you try putting the old FSR back in and feeling it to see if it also gets hot?

Zulu95 - Yeah, the old FSR gets hot as well when I turn on the fan. If the climate control panel is shut to completely OFF, then it does not get hot. Could it be the blower motor malfunctioning even though my rear vents are blasting air? I thought it was all one blower.

TEMA, how do I give the air blower a little push? Could you please guide me with more information?

BTW, there's no fuse anywhere near the FSR is there? Found a fuse caught in the crack when I opened the passenger side carpeted trim. Could that be it?

Thank you guys for your help!

Oh, really? Thought it would be the same since it's just a manual control for the rear that lets you turn how much air you want.

So it seems like my FSR is OK but rather my blower motor may be shot?
