which x5? help

please help i was looking to get an xc90 but found out the gearbox goes on the t6 at 40-50k and am now looking at x5
is there any models to go for or steer clear of in the x5 range im currently looking at 02 -03 models 3.0l sport but dont know weather to go diesel or petrol
thanks

maybe going to look at x5 sport petrol 52 plate at about 60k on the clock and up for 8k ummmmm?
should i wait for a diesel and what about them gearboxes

IMO go for a face lift model 04 on,definetly diesel for the amazing torque and economy. You might be lucky enough to find a manual if that suits, thats my only regret a manual would have been nice and no PROBLEMS!!!!!

i have a 2001 x5 3.0i its good never had any major problems and it cost me around $80 every 2 weeks to fill up here in hawaii...i wonder how much is it to fill up v8 x5

The V8 X5 should have the same fuel tank... only that we fuel it up every week

The X is not the most reliable of all vehicles. I have a 2003 3.0 and have had my fair share of issues. Most of them I fix myself, which saves me a ton on money. With that said, I would not trade it for anything right now. I absolutelly love it!!!
