replacement seats

I'm sure I saw this post at one point but just can't find it again. besides the obvious, replacing X5 front seats with another X5, what other model and year of BMW will fit. Also, would it be a straight plug and play or would there be a lot of modifications to make them fit. I can get a great deal on older M3 Vader seat but I think there too wide.

Any help would be great since the seats have seen better days.

An old member here "andaya" put E46 M3 seats in his E53. I saw them in person years ago but can't remember what he had to do to make them fit. I think it was a matter of changing the seat mounting rails. I haven't seen Vader seats in an E53 but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't work.

Ive put vaders in an e46 before with just some tweaking of the rear mounting holes (i opened them up 1/4") so i cant see how they wouldn't fit the e53. Now the seat belts thats a whole different story.
