Suspension Control Unit (EHC) is bad

The dealer concluded, all the suspension system and components check okay, but the control module (EHC) is unresponsive and therefore needs to be replaced. Could this module is so sensitive to just go bad because it was driven on lift and spit out Inactive Suspension error? All this happened after a fully functional Active Suspension (with no prior suspension error) was brought to a local friend shop for front brake replacement, while on the lift, test drove the car to replicate a weird sound coming from rear tire. Upon putting back the X5 on the ground, it did not go back to its normal height. I tried resetting it by unpluggling the battery and leave it over 15+mins and drove it for a while. it was all to no help. I ended up taking it to the dealer. And now the dealer wants to charge me $1400 to change the suspension control module. if this is really the case--the EHC is no good, is there any where i can find that module cheaper, even a used one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
