new spark plugs, old ones had oil on them

Indy just called after replacing spark plugs, 95k miles in the car..

anyway, he said some of them looked to have oil residue on them, i asked about valve cover gasket, etc. he said theres no need to replace them at this time.. what do you think?

If oil residue is found your spark plugs, then its time to replace your valve cover gaskets. IMO

i'm just caught off guard, why would a mechanic NOT want to do work?

I think he's just lazy There are four gaskets needs to be replaced, two outer and two inner.

.. and it seems like this is a bigger issue with M62s as opposed to N62s? or is that just because of age..?

valve covers become hard over time/ heat makes rubber become plastic like! i personally dont like people that assume you either know or you dont and in your case it seems as if they guy is old school and wouldnt fix something unless it dont work anymore, but with ultimate driving machines you need to do preventative maint

Guess i'll get them done. I havent had any oil leak issues, i dont usually have to fill oil between oil changes..

could the oil just be on there because of the age and random things happening..? i mean 95k miles later, the spark plugs probably look like shit
