Style 87's trade for Style 87's

To those of you that have OEM style 87's and powder coated/painted them black or gun metal and are tired of the look and would like to reverse the process, I would trade you my OEM style 87's in OEM silver color. My rims are not bent or ever been repaired. They do have a few curb rashes on the rears (I blame the wife, that's my story and I am sticking with it) Trading rims only, so we will meet up and swap tires on rims (I will cover the cost of tire swapping but not balancing). If it sounds like something you want to do, PM me. I am in NYC so of course this is for NY, NJ, CT locals.

P.S

If anyone thinks I am a fool for this and should keep my OE color please let me know. This is/was actually my wife's idea and it was after I showed her what MrBMWx5's looks like with gunmetal style 87's (Thanks Tom )

Why don't you be original and get some aftermarket wheels instead of making your X look like every other X.

In gunmetal ,they look even better

CiscO,
Its good idea ,what you are attempting to do.This way you dont have the trouble + expense of having yours re-painted.Hope you find someone whose wheels are as in good shape as yours.thats very important

I don't think those two words belong in the same sentence. I am being original by keeping my OEM look. If I go aftermarket, its no longer original. I have not seen an black X5 in NYC with Gunmetal 87's.

So if the majority jumped off a cliff I can assume you would be close to the front of the line? The 87 is nothing but a 5 spoke, or as we called them back in the 80's, a 5 star wheel, nothing unique or special about it at all.

I think you've got it twisted, the words OEM and Original absolutely, positively do not belong in the same sentence. OEM means that's how they were made and how they were sold at the dealership. Now I can't speak for NYC, but do a search for Style 87's here, I'm guessing about 75% of the members here on this site have Style 87's on their ride, several being in NYC. But it's just my opinion, I was just trying to get you to consider something outside the box. As I like to say, "Why spend your hard earned cash to make your X look like everyone else's X!" Hope you find someone willing to trade.

I disagree. 87's are not just another "5 star" wheel. I have never seen a wheel, especially from the side, flicker the way it does. Maybe flicker isnt the right word to use, but they catch your eye like no other wheel, ive seen. Plus the fact they are still a respectable look.
It isnt hard to take the "I have a good job" X5 and turn it into "I sling crack on the street" 87's do a good job of looking good, fresh, and hip, with out looking "Hood".

+1. 87s are among the better looking wheels on an E53, but there are other great looking options that will keep your X looking unique.
