i'm saying it as a generalized statement lol

and no i havent, but i have seen youtube videos of it lol

funny story, after i got my oil changed at the stealership (they were running an $80 special), they didnt reset the service interval lights, so one of the techs came out and did it. during the process he changed my temp display to celsius. I finally got fed up watching him fuck with every button on my car to try and change it back to farenheit, and found the answer on my phone by going to this site..

what idiots

one of my pleasant experiences with the dealership: when buying my current x5 i called the dealer to get the maintenance records of the car because carfax didn't have anything except 1 owner and 1 oil change. so through various transfers from one person to the next i finally got my answer " I can't pull the tech off job to check that for you!" i say well cant you check that? he goes "NOPE" and then i was left speechless and said fuck you in my mind and hung up! remember it like it was yesterday never seen a dealer since

Well, you could go to the dealer, but it would be expensive.

All you need is at least a CCA rating of 720, and an AH rating of 90. It needs to be the right size, and to have the vent on the correct side (since it is mounted under the rear floor). Any auto parts store will have a chart that shows what battery that they carry should fit your year and model. Check the CCA and AH ratings, and the vent location, and you are good to go.

Here is a tutorial for you on changing it:

If you want specific brand recommendations, suggest you do a search. A quick search of just the E53 forum for "battery replacement" got me 268 hits.

ok, so I replaced today with a Duralast Platinum H7-AGM and it started up fine, only possible worry is that the battery isn't vented...was told at Autozone that vent is not needed as the battery has gel as opposed to liquid and there will be no spill?!?!?!?!?
