04 4.8is blue smoke accellerating from a stop and sometimes at start-up??

Did you inspect the old vent valves for damage? If they were damaged the intake would be full of oil and this could be one of the reasons you are still seeing the blue smoke. Another possibility is that you could have leaky valve stem seals.

Drove for about an hour after installing them, still smoking. The old valves looked fine, no tears or broken springs.


Any idea whats involved with fixing leaky valve stems seals. It's it something I can do while the engine is in the x5? My brother is ase master tech, but on american cars. Thx
