My X started consuming a lot of oil. Once this happened I would get a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust after idle. Diagnosis was valve stem seals. So I have just started trying an additive that conditions the seals, in Oz its Nulon ESL. I heard positive results from some 7 series N62 owners but have also heard horror stories from non BMW owners. However I am happy to report that so far so good. I have driven 300 km so far and apparently takes full affect at 500 but already my car has almost stopped smoking altogether. Me happy
