X5 purchase
At 90K, you're coming up on some relatively expensive maintenance items, plus whatever hidden defects lurk. If you can get a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection), I'd do it. |

I will be getting a PPI. The car has not had any accident history but has had 5 owners all in which the owner knows because it has been passed around his family and has proof

I got mine almost 3 years ago and paid 25K cdn. I had to do a bit of maintenance on it like about 3K the first year, water pump, ball joint, cv boots, end links and a complete brake jobs, but since then this truck has been nothing but fun and very reliable. The first owner had some financial issue the last year he have owned that truck but all in all I have only good thing to say about the X5 4.4. I now have 140 000KM and it still run great.

I got the PPI today and it needs new front cv boots, power steering is leaking, parking sensors are not working,right tail light not working and they said after having it running on the lift for 15 min it started blowning out black smoke indicating the the valve seal is most likely blown and the repairs would cost from 10 to 15k
so no I did not buy the car...........the search continues

both are hovering around 100k miles. both just had their 100k service completed.
2004 is alpine white on black has a new tranny installed from dealer about 15k miles ago, and service is perfect on the car, new front brakes and rotors 2k miles ago, rear pads and rotors about 15k miles ago. Cold weather package, premium pkg, comfort seats. 2002 is titanium silver on black, has no issues either, control arm bushings replaced recently, brakes done recently, Rear brakes will probably need to be done within next 10k miles. FULLY loaded, every option and package available that year. Looking to get around $17.2k for either. I'm leaning towards selling the 4.6is though (purely because i like white)
