Glad you got back in. I have locked myself out of my X5 once. I opened just the hatch and inadvertently put my key in the cargo area and then closed the hatch. Doh! I am not the only person who has done this.

i just had same crap, i found a way! when battery dies and locks are engaged your done! however! call a lock smith, use air bags to gently pry driver door. have lock smith use his trusty flex rod to reach down and pull hood latch. and presto. it took some effort but hell it was worth it, O by the way i broke my window 1st time( many tears< lesson learned).

Gave up on the battery replacement and went with a new key from the dealer($174 with tax). Key will not program and rear doors still locked. Will the key not program with the alarm set? Any ideas how to override the central lock?

Disconnected the battery today for 10 minutes, rear doors now lock and unlock with the central lock button on the console. Clown nose light on rearview is flashing like crazy. I guess the alarm is activated; key still not programming.
