Replacement of bushing for the front control arm for BMW X5

I'd like to find DIY for the replacement of bushing for the front control. I did not find anything for E53 model. I am wondering if someone can point me out to a good source of the information. I am planning to replace old front control bushing with the part# 31126769715 on PowerFlex PFF5-905-29 FRONT ANTI ROLL BAR TO CHASSIS 29MM. My concern is how to remove old one from the tension strut and insert new. Any advice is highly appreciated.

Great post! Thank you for sharing it with me.
I am also wondering if I need to do alignment after replacement only front control bushing with the part# 31126769715. It looks like that it should not misalign front wheels, but I am not sure.

Can this be done with the arm still on the car?

it will be kind of hard to get the arm on the press while its on the car. the bushing isn't coming out without a press.

Great write up X5girl, I will use it when I need to for sure. I put the powerflex bushings on my last E38 and they did great. They will however give the X5 a tighter feel, as they don't absorb shock like the OEM bushings do.

Romeokc10, you have to remove them in order to press them out and press in the new bushings.

Ok thanks, I've got some Powerflex bushings also, just been too lazy to put them in. However after doing some research I did find a thread on one of the other BMW sites where a guy made his own press from stuff he bought at Home Depot/Lowes.
