The relay for EHC-2 (double axle air suspension) located below the dome right next to the car battery (passenger side of the battery) wrapped in a small foamy envelope. My relay is black in color slightly bigger than those in the panel. I took it a part a found no visual signs of burn or other damage to the coil inside (it was clean as new). "Weasel" in one of the threads suggested to replace it along with bags saying "in most of the cases it takes care of the issue". Just to let you know, I have replaced all 4 air struts/bags by now, computer module (recoded), front level sensor, and still can't get rid of the massage, and get that switch to work (LED is "on"). FYI: good luck changing flat tire or putting winter tires on when you need it. Any time I lift my "X" from the ground now it drops on all 4 corners right the way , and it takes GT-1 using "control unit functions" to bring it up. It has been over 2 years now battling with SLS, playing with GT-1 and multiple expensive visits to the dealer did not resolve anything. Just past Christmas my service agent @ the BMW suggested to get rid of the car and get some piece of mind. Sorry, for being so bitter and skeptical. I still have some hope, as you can see, checking threads about it here weekly.

so sorry about your situation with your X!
My X honestly has been riding fine since I changed the fronts with Arnott struts, the module was replaced and recoded by the previous owner as well, as well as a level sensor. No random changes in ride height or any of that. And Papa13, I would try your compressor out, but I just wanted to know if it's possible that mine could be faulty even though it runs? GT1 said something about the pressure relief valve on the air supply is faulty, and Neil can vouch for hearing the compressor run and the relief valve letting air off. In the test we ran, it went from 15 psi to 10 psi and then concluded the relief valve was faulty. I will look under my battery for this "relay in the envelope" to see if there is any corrosion on the contacts, its a cheap replacement if anything. And papa13 I appreciate you still having that compressor open to me, i'm just trying to find out if I even need it, or if I am throwing money at something that will never be fixed. To be honest, I don't NEED to use the ride height adjustment. My car is at a perfectly fine level. I would just like to get rid of the warning on the dash, and drive my car. Neil or anyone else with a GT1, can you possibly disable something in the module so that the error does not come up and no more fault on the dash? |

It's your compressor - see my 'selflevel susp inact' post I just updated. The compressor can indeed run and not build pressure. Once the system sees this condition, it posts the error code to the dash and doesn't try again until the code is cleared by the dealer (or GT1/DIS/INPA etc.), even if you recycle the ignition. Seems these compressors are a wear item...

Thanks you. I appreciate your "SLS" posts a lot. Nice persistent research. You put light on many things and answered many of my questions too. Looks like we are neighbors. Is it possible to give you a call to clarify some minor details about the whole thing. My cell (206) 383-7373, I live in West Seattle. Believe it or not, but I was just about to buy 2 front struts/springs yesterday from one of the members here, convert to springs, and put all that nightmare behind me. But sounds like I'm close enough ($510 plus 1.5h of my time) to fix it right. It's very tempting!!!

My X has the sagging issue and I know it's a leak on the front left corner
I hate to ask, approx how much will it cost to get the front left air shock replaced [cringe]?

DIY - about $350. If you have it done out, maybe add $150 to that.

UPDATED ON THE FIRST PAGE:
I just want to update that the compressor replacement and clearing of the fault EHC 74 - Accumulator Filling Requested Pressure Remains Constant (which was my only error) with no other programming or testing has fixed my air suspension and now I am proud to say that my air ride and ride height control works, for the first time since I bought the car in December. I can't thank Neil and his GT1 (neilrmp), Papa13 and his used but perfectly working compressor I bought for half the price of a new Arnott unit, and the forums for their direction to use Arnott to replace my front air struts back in december when I found they were leaking. And yes, I do have a 3.0 and EHC2! It's a beautiful thing!
