Hi, I'm locked out my car due to a flat battery and my door lock being broken,i don't have much mechanical know how but is it easy enough to reach the starter from underneath to use a booster pack to give it enough power to open the doors?any info would be appreciated.

Have you tried going tho the boot ? You need the bonnet or boot up to get to the terminals.

How do I get in through the boot? There is no noticeable lock? I expected there to be a hidden lock under the plinth but no sign of one unless you need to take the plinth off to access it??? When it happened in the past the BMW assist guy got in through the boot within minutes and i hadn't even given him the key???

I have been looking on forums all night and by the sounds of things, some have a key slot there and some don't,I also have an e70 and that doesn't have one there either,it seems like a common problem with people being locked out, don't want to have to break a window.

Are you sure you have a flat battery ? Have you tried another key? May be stating the obvious but always worth a try.

This too funny that this thread is on the front page, I'm standing outside of Ikea and can't get inside my X5, lock is broken and my remote key is dead like most of ours are.

You have a V8 and you need to remove the protecting skidplate. So, a little harder for starter access in your case.

I would try AAA or some such service and ask them what they can do. This can't be the first X that they have to get into.

I have spoken to someone on another X5 site who says it can be opened by adding power but for reasons of security it shouldnt be discussed on the net, which come to think of it sounds very logical. His advice was to get an Auto lock smith round who will know how to do it. Got to be cheaper than smashing a window!!
Cheers Dweeb
