Locked out
Hi, I'm locked out my car due to a flat battery and my door lock being broken,i don't have much mechanical know how but is it easy enough to reach the starter from underneath to use a booster pack to give it enough power to open the doors?any info would be appreciated.

Have you tried going tho the boot ? You need the bonnet or boot up to get to the terminals.
|
How do I get in through the boot? There is no noticeable lock? I expected there to be a hidden lock under the plinth but no sign of one unless you need to take the plinth off to access it??? When it happened in the past the BMW assist guy got in through the boot within minutes and i hadn't even given him the key???

I thought there was a key slot where the number plate lights are... Its pissing down with rain outside right now as i would take a look at mine.

I have been looking on forums all night and by the sounds of things, some have a key slot there and some don't,I also have an e70 and that doesn't have one there either,it seems like a common problem with people being locked out, don't want to have to break a window.

Are you sure you have a flat battery ? Have you tried another key? May be stating the obvious but always worth a try.
|
Yes the battery is defo flat, the car has been sitting unmoved for around 2 months and when Ive went back to it someone has tried to get in through the lock and now the lock is buggered so no way of gaining access, there must be some way through the tailgate as the BMW guy done it before but dont know how as he didn't even have the key, is the lock on the plinth that unnoticeable that I maybe can't see it? It's driving me nuts

You can try this:
http://www.xoutpost.com/847158-post7.html I'm not sure if you can call AAA to go through the hatch and pull that emergency release. Most of the time they can use a bladder to create a gap but not sure if that can be done on the rear hatch without breaking it. I thought there was a method where you could restore power temporarily to use your keys to unlock (under the car). I can't remember the method offhand. I'll try and see if I can find it. EDIT: Is there AAA over there?! LOL! Sorry, I didn't notice you're not stateside. |
Where is the emergency release cable located??? A bit nervous at drilling holes and not knowing what I'm looking to pull?do you think this is what the BMW assist guy could have done as he opened it without the key??? I appreciate the help.

Ive just had a look at mine..Your right there aint no lock, well I would of bet my last £ that there was one. As for the BMW tech getting in I have no idea. I will look on the UK x5 site to see if I can find out.
