Transfer Case Removal - Need Some Fine Points ASAP

am removing the transfer case now, and im starting to wish I would of had a mechanic do it. I am very handy with almost all repairs in this cursed car !!

X5 2003 3.0 80K very gently driven and costing a fortune in stupid useless repairs.

Anyways I need someone who has done this to offer some fine tips,
Ive already seen the great post by someone here with a lot of pictures,
but I need to know if both driveshafts actually have to be removed in order to take dowen transfer case

someone mention they put a new chain in without taking down transfer case is this feasible ?? how,

Truly had enough of this car,I only keep this Beast around because I feel good when driving it !!

Other than that believe it or not BMW's are very extremely expensive to maintain!

Do not Buy a used BMW ---- please

I have never heard of anyone doing the job without removing the TC from the vehicle. Bought my X with 100k miles, over 145k miles now and have done repairs totalling around $350., hardly "extremely expensive" IMO.
