PDC long beeping noise when put in reverse

Hey guys
Have an 05 4.8IS. When I put it in reverse, there is a long neverending beep, even if I am not close to any objects. The PDC button on the dashboard stays lit up though. Has anyone had this happen to then? I am a newbie to the X5 so maybe I am missing something here

Thanks!

Mine has done it for ages, especially right after I wash the car.I just press the PDC button and turn it off and on again..usually does the trick, but this is common in most X5s.Dont worry about it ....

Usually this means that one of your sensors is broken. You can check it by turning on the pdc and going to each sensor to listen for a ticking sound. The one that's not making a sound is the one that's broken.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Hopefully I don't need to replace a sensor, already got a diagnosis done and a sensor replaced a month ago. It was pretty costly!

If it is a bad sensor, let's hope it's the one that was replaced so it should be covered by the dealer.

If not, they are really pretty easy to replace yourself. The sensor itself is the expense but you can probably find a better price than what your dealer charged you.
