Damn, that is a lot of bread. Honestly I was expecting you to say over $1000 though. Not too bad for a new unit. I am going to live with it for now. Trying to get the car back to 100% before swapping out parts that are still working. Thanks.

When an alternator starts to whine like crazy it's on it's way out. When you're ready I have the genuine BMW alternators available HERE.

Not quite sure. I usually hear it from inside. What was the problem with that one?

Most likely the engine belt, just replace the engine belt to see if the sound still exists.
