What colour is my car?

No wise cracks!

Just wanted to know if there was a simple way of telling exactly what colour my car is ie Sapphire, Carbon etc..?

I have a few small chips I want to touch-up but need to know 'what' black metallic my 01 euro 4.4 is.

Open the hood and look for the tag. Either the shock tower will have it or the front radiator support should have it. I don't recall where it exactly is on the X5.

No 'tag' found. Nothing on the radiator support. Only the chassis number and another number below it stamped onto the RH strut tower next to the washer bottle.

OP, if you can't figure it out. take your VINumber to the BMW dealer and they can give the exact color from the records for that car. you may be able to just call them.

Now that I think about it... I think car fax can also give you the color

Yes yes, I know all that, of course I can't figure it out thats why I asked the question.. 'Is there a simple way of telling?'

Don't worry folks I'll ask next door's dog.
