Figured I would update.
GO GET THESE TIRES. Snowed today 3 inches in NYC. Compacted and loose snow are no problem, Car digs in like a beast and goes. I have to admit that the all wheel drive is helping a lot, but much better than my old Blizzak tires on a rear wheel drive car. Why. Because these stop as if they are dedicated snow tires. I am on my stock 20's too. Taking a turn, they grip, floor it in a turn, the car pulls through. I can get ABS to kick in only if I try. And even at that point is stops violently. We need to get more snow. Like a foot. I need to decide if I'm keeping the snow setup. |

I've got them on my X5, they are quiet as can be and have great tread life. I can't report on snow as I've not had the chance to drive it in the white stuff, down here in Carolina.

I replaced the original Michelin 4x4 Diamaris after 45,000 miles with Continental ExtremeContact DWS two weeks ago. I have a 2006 BMW X5 4.8is with staggered wheels, Front 275/40-R20; Rear 315/35-R20. I have driven about 200 miles on the new tires so far. The cabin noise has been reduced drastically. The BMW Bluetooth system is now usable pass 40mph. I used to get so much cabin noise that the other party couldn’t hear me if I was on the car Bluetooth.
I feel the side walls on DWS are a tad softer than the Diamaris and the steering doesn’t feel as sharp as before. The steering is still very responsive just not as responsive as before. To test the tires and handling, I took an off ramp at about 70mph and I felt the tires side walls are not holding up as well as the Diamaris. I did the same off ramp around 80mph with the Diamaris and no problem. At the end of the day, it is a 5,000+lbs SUV. So, I am ok losing some steering response and gain more comfort and quiet. So far, the next set of tires will be Continental ExtremeContact DWS again. |

At the time I bought it from Mavis, it was mostly due to tire rack not having my size. It like they sold out. As soon as I purchased them from Mavis, they called me from tire rack asking if i was still interested. Go figure. The price difference was negligible.
To update, they tires have held up well. Still great shape, still nothing negative to say about them. |
