My 4S paired flawlessly with my 2005 X5 including directory download.

My thread with this issue.
SOB. Now I need to get another 4 phones. I guess time to hit up the family. Thanks Lemans, I tried to unpair and pair yesterday, didn't work, so I have to give your method a try.

I just got the HTC Amaze and I can't seem to pair either. My phone can't find the BMW, but can find other Bluetooth cars/devices in the parking lot. I paired my HTC Touch Pro with no problem over a year ago. I wonder if this has anything to do with the new Android OS or Bluetooth version.

FWIW, (although I guess it won't help you find a solution), with my 2005, over the years I went from a Razr V3, to an iPhone 4, to an iPhone 4S, each time paired with NO problems, uploaded directories, VR worked immediately each time... only thing I did that might be different, I cleared out old directory/phone before attempting to pair each time...

How do you clear out the old directory and phone? Did you do what Lemans said, use 4 other phones? Thanks in advance.

Guys,
No, I didn't need to use 4 other phones to clear the device list. Here's instructions per BMW Owners Manual.
- I'd suggest clearing ALL devices out frist, then start from scratch with your current phone:
1) Press and hold the VR ("face") button on your steering wheel, turn the ignition to position1 after after approx 3 seconds, and release the button after another 3 seconds. "Bluetooth Pairing" appears on the display.
2) Press and keep button presssed again for another 10 seconds, until three beep sounds occur. "PAIRED DEVICES DELETED" appears on display.
3) Turn ignition key to poisition 0/off to complete proceedure.
- Then go thru the process to pair your new phone...

Hope this helps all/someone !!

Cool thanks. It would be nice if my car came with any of the manuals. But no. Glad this forum is around to help.

Finally synced! Persistence pays off. Just kept on clicking 'Search for Device' on my HTC over and over and over again for a couple of days.

I have my htc wildfire works phone and my Ifone 4 paired to my 3.0 and if I have both fones in the car at the same time its the wildfire that pairs . Yet both pair perfectly individually . So the blue tooth on the wildfire must be better.
