Can anyone tell me of this works on BMW X5 E53 2002 Euro model. I prefer going to dealer..but question does this model supports enabling DRL programmatically?

Old thread... I know... But I was just fooling around with the BMW Scanner 1.4 and was able to activate DRLs on the 2001 3.0i X5.

It is super easy to program features with this device. Once in the BMW Scanner software, let it do the full vehicle scan, then you just open one of the computers listed in one of the 3 pages (mine only has computer modules available in pages 1 & 2), and then click on "programing" or "coding" and navigate from there. Eventually you'll get to a screen that has a bunch of features listed by name and you just click the ones you want to select/de-select and then click "write". Done.

Hey jac, why don't you see off that software will allow you to code fogs on with high beams.

Your coding process sounded way easy. I'm just corious if it's fully capable.

I remember that there were three different ways to activate DRLs for the "USA".

1. Only low beams on
2. Only high beams on (with reduced power and poined downwards somewhat)
3. Low and High beams on

I think there was a EURO option too, but I did not try it. I will try to see if the fogs can come on as DRLs.

No, not fogs as Drl. I'm asking if your software is capable of coding the car to have fogs on while the high beams are on.

Sounds to me, from the ease of your coding experience, that your software is only capable of coding "spec" options, vs. being able to code anything.

Ah. Got ya.

The software also has a way for you to manually read/write the raw binary/hex data from/to the different computer systems in the vehicle. However, I have no clue about that so I am not going to mess around with that. Sorry.
