Steering wheel shaking at high speeds

Hey guys

Wondering if you could help me out with a problem I recently have been experiencing on my 05 4.8is

At any speeds of 70km/hr or above, the steering wheel starts to shake excessively. I retorqued all of the wheel bolts but that wasn't the problem. A few weeks ago, I got a new tire rod and alignment done at the local dealership (alignment done since I got 20mm spacers on the back).

Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem? I've been back and forth to the dealership multiple times in the last few months with problems

Thanks!!

Could be tires, any rim bends, thrust arm bushings. Looks like you took care of the alignment.

Thanks for the reply. Both tires and rims are only 3 months old.. hopefully it's nothing too costly

Look into new set of rotors or have them turned...

Does the shaking occur alot more when stopping, especially downhill?

Possibly warped rotors or bad bushings.

I haven't noticed it occurring more in either situation

It really only happens when I go over a certain speed around 70km/hr, and the shaking is pretty bad

I can tell you i had a slight vibration in my tires with my 300zx, and ended up getting the tires "road force" balanced - regular balance didn't work with my tires/wheels. You can use process of elimination... just curious are these OEM wheels?

These are my winter wheels, 275 front and rear with 20mm spacers in rear so it's the same as stock width basically. Had these rims/tires on since november though with no problems until now

Question is not width you may want to check - make sure you have the correct hub centric rings on those aftermarket wheels. If no hub-centric rings then guaranteed that is your problem.

I am sure you just need to balance the wheels.May be the lead weights from one wheel got loose and fell off...who knows...
Once I had some snow stuck between the spokes and all body was shaking @ 100km/h.Since then I always take care of snow and remove all the crap out the spokes right away.
