Yea maf can be on wrong path, but it might not be. I've personally experienced same symptoms with Lexus. Crazy codes, slow start, engine rough.

DME reads, mas, engine coolant temp sensor, pedal switch, cam sensors.

I replaced mas, and coolant temp to fix last problem with Lexus. Codes had nothing to do with those parts. That's why I suggested he swap parts before buying. I too, am not sure.
