RPMs will go to red line still. Why aren't I getting a CEL for the MAF when it's unplugged? On my Audi, it happened right away when it was unplugged.

Got anyone around you with the same car? Now I suggest you find someone, and swap out enire intake. Filter box, all the way to throttle body, including maf.

Yes it's weird you don't have a cell with maf unplugged. You are making it sound like dme, but I'm not convinced. Feels like two issues, maf is setting the other off.

Please let us know what aftermarked stuff was installed. Specifically electronics. More specific, remote start.

I have a K&N air filter (I know...worthless). I have LED tails, but they don't throw a message.

That's the only things that are not OEM.

I just the other day started the x with the maf unplugged, first start no light. Second start check engine light came on.
Might not have come on because it is a 2 trip fault to set the light.

But a failed maf will not cause those throttle codes.

Have you ever cleaned the filter. It is a very tedious process that results in too much oil, and a dead maf. This happened to me. Twice. Once with brand new k&n, and once after I cleaned it.

Yea try to get someone else's maf and swap into your car. Reset ecu, and let us know what's up.

Gt1 / dis for sure. Disconnect bat is your best bet. Make the pos and neg cables touch each other while disconnected. 30 min should do.

I agree with trying the hard reset, I guess I assumed the shop tried that. Never hurt to try again.

But how is a dead maf going to cause his throttle pedal position sensor problems? That's going down wrong trail.
It is true that any oiled filter can and will screw up the maf but that would not be related to his throttle pedal issues

Is there ever a case where the failsafe is on but the car doesn't have a real problem. I just got done driving the X again and the only problem is the slow start. It's like I'm driving a car with a little less horse power but no other problems. It runs, idles, and runs over 80 MPH with no trouble. I need to get this thing sold but don't want to sell it if it's going to blow up on the new owner.

The dme goes into failsafe mode if it thinks there is a problem.

So whether or not there is an real problem if the dme thinks there is problem its an issue...

Try the hard reset.
